BEOWULF (The Comic Book)

After finishing Beowulf I actually found it interesting, even though some parts were a little confusing, but i felt i understood the main story. Seeing the movie really helps in confusing parts, although it isn't very accurate. I don't know why I enjoyed it i guess short books with some action I find enjoyable. Well once I finished the story, i kind of looked at the book as a medieval style comic book, without the pictures. A story with a hero (Beowulf) who fights villians (Grendel, Grendel's mom, and the Dragon) and becomes remembered for their heroic duties to save others. The hero, Beowulf, i see as superman in our modern day comics. Someone who is strong, brave, great leader, and helps others. Just as superman has these traits, so does Beowulf. I think that this was not the oldest English manuscript, but the oldest english comic book.

I like the analogy! That is a really good way to think about it in order to kind of bring it into a more modern light. Really creative!

You just might possibly be a genius! That is a perfect comparrison! Do you want to teach the class now? I can't believe I didn't think of that. You're so right... wow... that would even make a good paper.. comparing Beowulf to a modern day superhero!

Clever.

I can see the similarities... except for the "killing everything that so much as looks at him funny" part.

Other than that, very good idea!

Well what else can I add? I think you got it down. I wish I would have thought of the comic thing when I read it, it might have made it better : )

Nice. That is an interesting way of looking at it. I never would have thought of it that way, but I like your way of seeing it. :)

Yes i agree, this could relate to a typical comic book. Because its got pretty much the mystical way of thinking and imagination that goes into comics today..with less gore..
