1. I believe that Sir Gawain is really just a hero, not a full epic hero. He is part of King Arthur's court and a knight so he has to be brave and strong like a hero. Sir Gawain also takes the challenge from the Green Knight to protect his King. Although he does see himself as being weak and just takes the challenge because he feels he does not matter. Not really the mind set of an epic hero like Beowulf had. Those flaws of not being confident and lying to protect himself and keeping the girdle really shows he has characteristics of a normal person.
2. The Green Knight is really hard to put into a good or evil category. He really shows sides of both. He shows glimpses of goodness with giving mercy to Sir Gawain. It also wasn't his idea about the whole task. Although he is evil for lying about being the lord and performing the task he was asked to do. I believe he symbolism a gentle giant kind of person. They look and sometimes act evil, but really they are good inside and just need a helping hand.
3. Like Sarah i had to look up what green means and this is what i got. ColorWheelPro.com says green symbolizes growth, harmony, and safety. It also has great healing power and can show inexperience. Im not sure how the color symbolizes with the green knight, but it is the color of the girdle and just like the color represents safety, the green girdle was used to protect Sir Gawain. I think the green knight showed up on New Years Day because he knew the knights and King Arthur would be celebrating the new beginning and would all be together. This made it easier to find someone to challenge.

BEOWULF (The Comic Book)
After finishing Beowulf I actually found it interesting, even though some parts were a little confusing, but i felt i understood the main story. Seeing the movie really helps in confusing parts, although it isn't very accurate. I don't know why I enjoyed it i guess short books with some action I find enjoyable. Well once I finished the story, i kind of looked at the book as a medieval style comic book, without the pictures. A story with a hero (Beowulf) who fights villians (Grendel, Grendel's mom, and the Dragon) and becomes remembered for their heroic duties to save others. The hero, Beowulf, i see as superman in our modern day comics. Someone who is strong, brave, great leader, and helps others. Just as superman has these traits, so does Beowulf. I think that this was not the oldest English manuscript, but the oldest english comic book.

Clutters are murdered
Wow it took me by surprise when the family is murdered. I guess thats why the book is called In Cold Blood. Now i want to read more to figure out what the killers do after the event, and how detective Dewey is going to solve the case. It was also neat to see how the town acted after the event.
Beginning of In Cold Blood
I've starting reading the book and it is very interesting. The story switches between the Clutter Family, and Dick and Perry. I was excited to see how the family and Dick and Perry were connected.
In Cold Blood
My mom picked up In Cold Blood for me back in the beginning of July, and said it was very good. I saw that it was by Truman Capote and i know there was a movie on him so i was excited to read this.
tobacco road
I know i haven't been blogging alot but im catchin up. I finished tobacco road back in June, and the story was kind of boring i thought. There was alot of wierd things like dude and Bessie getting married, and the grandmother who is hated by her entire family. The story was very easy to read and short but i didnt find it very interesting.
